Our success with early mornings at Norris and Old Faithful
was great, but we couldn’t really repeat again since July 21 was drizzly and
cold – like 55 degrees instead of 75 degrees.
So we went to the nearby “Museum of the Park Ranger” and
learned all kinds of cool things – like that they fight fires and catch
criminals and sometimes carry guns. And Gerald Ford was one.
The Ranger at the Museum suggested we see the Grand Canyon
of Yellowstone so we headed there next and boy he was right – so awesome. We had to hike down about 600 feet in
elevation through a few switchbacks to see the massive wall of water plummeting
over the precipice. I only quaked a little. And climbing up was tiring so we
headed back to the campsite.
Rain finally hit us in then, along with hail. We put a canopy over Max’s tent to keep some
water off it.
I drove over to Canyon Lodge to get wifi to catch up on work
email and try to download an audio book for our drive the next day.
And I saw an elk.
